Who we are?

A letter from our president

Dear Student- Athlete,

Welcome to the College Baseball Scouting Bureau!

You are in that time of your life when you need to start thinking about your future, at this time you probably are in high school already or are about to start your freshman year. Like you know this is the most crucial time of your life, you are probably already thinking about what you want to major in, thinking about your goals in baseball and what college you want to go to. This is a defining moment in your life, the right choices or wrong choices that you make will mark you forever. That is why I created the College Baseball Scouting Bureau, to be able, from my own experience help you make those right choices. The recruiting process can be confusing and stressful and more so for student athletes, you have a lot more on your plate than most regular students. You need to deal with practice, training, games and school, specially when you need to have a balance between all of them. A lot of details go into the recruiting process, there is a lot of information on our website that will help you understand the process a little more, also our services are designed to guide you through the process and helping your parents understand more about it too.

Why did I create the College Baseball Scouting Bureau?

Like you, I was once a high school student with hopes and dreams. I always dreamed of playing for the University of Miami Hurricanes, the Wichita State University Shockers or the LSU Tigers. I also wanted to be a doctor to take care of my mom when she got old, and dreamed of getting drafted by the New York Mets. Well! What can I say, I discovered that the road is not as easy as it looks, that not all of the time we have all the answers and that we need to adapt.

Here s a little story of what happened to me in my senior year.

I graduated from high school in 1993 by that time I was a top prospect catcher being watched by scouts of 5 different organizations, and lucky for me the Mets were one of those organizations. I was very close of living my dream, but life had another thing waiting for me, never got to sign a professional contract. The biggest mistake at that time of my life was when I received a letter from the University of Oklahoma Sooner's pitching coach Vern Ruhle, he was also in charge of player recruiting for them. We did not have internet or cellphones at that time, there was limited access to information, not like the access you have today. Didn't know anything about college recruiting, so the letter arrived in the mail and I was very excited about it, but did not know what to do next. I kept waiting for them to call me, and guess what happened? I missed my shot of becoming a Sooner, of course now I know it was me who was supposed to call them.

I started college and kept playing on independent clubs and finally on my sophomore year I got a scholarship to go to a JUCO in Iowa, Kirkwood Community College. I was one of the lucky ones to get a second chance, so I went there and had the chance of playing college baseball until a shoulder injury ended my baseball career that same year.

There is a reason why I am telling you my story, because I don't want you to make the same mistakes I made. This whole story is why I started college scouting and is the reason why I founded the College Baseball Scouting Bureau, and why we are so passionate about what we do. Yes, you will have to work hard to achieve your goals, you will have to sacrifice a lot of things, but at the end, it all be worth it. With the right information, guidance and resources we want to help you achieve your goals and dreams and we want to be there with you on this 4 year journey, called high school. And most important celebrate with you the achievement of your dreams.

Now, I ask you. Do you have what it takes to accept the challenge? Are you ready to play College Baseball? Because if you are, we are ready to accept that challenge with you.

I wish you the best of luck, and remember that we are always here to help you.
